George Mashour

George Mashour is a neuroscientist who also makes psychedelic rock and hip-hop music in Ann Arbor. His research into the boundaries of conscious experience resonates through his music. Influenced by the psychedelic musicians of the late 1960s, the neopsychedelic bands of the 1990s up to the present, and the study of altered states, George’s psychedelic sound fits hand in glove with lyrics that explore the themes of awakening, change, and perception.

On September 7, 2024, George released his 9-track EP Eulogy for My Ego Death, which Ann Arbor’s Pulp magazine described as “a ‘60s-inspired psych-rock album filled with existential lyrics, dreamy vocals, fuzzy electric guitars, and groovy instrumentation.”

George released his latest single, Emotional Mimes, on January 5, 2025.
